Academics : Pre-Primary

Academics : Pre-Primary

At Wisdom we have three classes at the Pre-Primary level : Junior Kinder & Senior Kinder. Our Pre-Primary section is affiliated to a USA based educational curriculum provider, International Preschool Curriculum (IPC) which provides a well-researched, comprehensive, thematic and creative curriculum. All the educators dealing with Pre-Primary classes are trained to use this curriculum. The IPC suggests many ideas for collaborative and active learning. The hands-on experience given to each child under each theme quickens the learning process, increases the retention span and creates global understanding as the child is learning in a play way method. The curriculum planning is sensitive to multiple intelligence of a child and is done keeping in mind that each child is a unique individual with his/her individual learning capacity and style. All our endeavours are directed towards helping the child build upon his capabilities and achieve his fullest potential. Year round we focus on the following.

  1. Reading preparation and language art
  2. Numeracy and mathematics
  3. Visual and creative arts
  4. Physical development and motor skills
  5. Environmental studies
  6. Social and emotional development
  7. Self-help skills
  8. Rhythm and movement
  9. Science and Technology

All the themes are taken up through discussions, demonstrations, worksheets, wall displays, role-plays and other interesting activities. A total of ten themes each are covered in Junior Kinder & Senior Kinder.

Assessment and Evaluation
No formal examinations are conducted for Pre-Primary classes. The performance of the students is monitored in the class and assessed through oral work, class work, home work, work-sheets and class tests. The childs involvement and attentiveness in various activities is also taken into consideration. Oral/Written class tests are also conducted regularly according to work plan and the assessment is intimated to the parents through Students Daybook.
A comprehensive assessment Report Card in the form of grades and remarks is issued at the end of each term in October and March apprising the parents about the childs performance. All the children are also trained to give a presentation of whatever they have learnt during the term in front of their parents.
